On 8 July, the Cortinas de São Francisco, within the Walls of Valença, will host the “Symphonic Rock Concert 80/90”, a production by the Academy of Music of the Valença Fortress that promises a memorable evening of music and emotion. Starting at 9:30 pm, the concert combines the energy of rock with the grandeur of a symphony orchestra, featuring reinterpretations of classics by iconic bands and artists such as Queen, The Beatles, Scorpions, Metallica, GNR, Xutos & Pontapés and Rui Veloso. On stage will be the Symphony Orchestra, the rock band Fora da Pauta, choirs and soloists, bringing together around 220 participants in a performance that spans generations and celebrates live music.

The race’s passage through Valença on 11th June attracts hundreds of supporters and visitors, creating a lively atmosphere along the town’s main streets. Throughout the route, spectators will have the opportunity to follow the cyclists’ efforts up close and experience the excitement of one of the country’s most prestigious cycling competitions.
On 12 and 13 June 2026, the parish of São Tomé, in Verdoejo, will host the 13th Traditions Fair, an event dedicated to popular culture, local customs and community gathering. Over two days, the fair promises plenty of entertainment, music and good cheer, recreating the atmosphere of Minho’s traditional and rural heritage.
Taking place during the late afternoon and evening, the event will feature cultural entertainment, live music, traditional gastronomy and several surprises prepared by the organisers. The fair continues to establish itself as a meeting point between generations, celebrating local roots, traditions and cultural identity.
The 13th Traditions Fair invites the whole community and visitors to enjoy a festive and welcoming atmosphere in the heart of Verdoejo.
The Beginner Classes of the Music Academy of the Valença Fortress present Rock Português Kids, a concert dedicated to some of the most iconic songs of Portuguese rock music from the 1980s. Taking place on 26 June 2026, at 9:00 pm, in the AMFV Auditorium, the performance promises an evening full of rhythm, energy and entertainment for all ages.
With great enthusiasm and talent, the youngest students will bring to the stage well-known themes from Portuguese music, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere for the audience. Open to the community, this concert celebrates music, learning and the joy of live performance in a family-friendly environment.
On 14th June 2026, the lively Verdoejense Day will take place, an initiative dedicated to community spirit, tradition, and celebrating the people of Verdoejo. Organised by the Verdoejense Sports Association, the event promises a day full of entertainment, physical activity, and moments of togetherness for families and friends.
The programme includes a walking route through the landmarks of Verdoejo, a community lunch, and various traditional and modern games and activities for all ages. The aim is to promote community spirit, well-being, and the appreciation of local traditions in a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere.
With exercise, good humour, and plenty of entertainment guaranteed, Verdoejense Day stands out as a special moment of gathering and celebration for the whole community.

Between the 12th, 13th and 14th of June 2026, the parish of Ganfei, in Valença, will celebrate the traditional Festas em Honra de Santa Rita de Cássia, an event marked by faith, music, entertainment, and community spirit.
The festivities begin on Friday, 12th June, with live entertainment provided by the band Curtisom. On Saturday, 13th June, the musical group Arco Íris takes to the stage, promising another lively evening of celebration and entertainment.
On Sunday, 14th June, the afternoon will be dedicated to the traditional Cantares ao Desafio with João Oliveira, keeping alive one of the most popular expressions of Minho culture. In the evening, the celebrations continue with a performance by Trio L&M.

The event will feature grilled sardines, bread, drinks, and traditional caldo verde soup, accompanied by live music and plenty of entertainment. As a new addition to this year’s edition, freshly grilled bifanas will also be available, expanding the festival’s food offering.

On 13th June 2026, Cerdal, in Valença, will host the 32nd National Folklore Festival, a celebration of Portuguese traditions, music, and popular culture. The event also marks the 42nd anniversary of the group “Os Camponeses Minhotos”, the organisers of the festival and an important reference in Minho folklore.
The festival will feature the participation of several folklore and ethnographic groups from different regions of Portugal, promoting a gathering of traditional songs, dances, costumes, and cultural heritage. Guest groups include Rancho Poceirão e Marateca, Rancho Folclórico Serra do Ceira de Colmeal, Rancho Folclórico e Etnográfico “As Capuchinhas de São Silvestre”, and Grupo Etno-Folclórico de Refóios do Lima.
The programme begins at 5:00 pm with the gathering of the groups at the association headquarters, followed by a social dinner for all participants at 6:00 pm. At 9:00 pm, the parade to the festival venue will begin, bringing colour, music, and cultural celebration to the streets of Cerdal.

O Clube Caçadores “Os Torreenses” is organising the 3rd edition of the CCT 7-a-side Football Friendship Tournament, a sporting event that promises to bring together competition, fair play, and social interaction between players and supporters. The tournament is scheduled to begin on 6th June 2026 and will take place at Campo da Cruz, em São Pedro da Torre.
The competition will be held in the Senior, Under-16, and Under-12 categories, with matches taking place from Monday to Saturday, including public holidays, depending on the number of participating teams. The tournament will also feature a CCT bar service and a welcoming atmosphere designed to promote sport and community spirit among participants and spectators.
In the senior category, the winning team will receive a €250 voucher for a dinner at Restaurante Stop. Registration fees are set at 100 balls for Seniors, 75 balls for Under-16, and 50 balls for Under-12 teams, with a maximum of 12 teams per category and 12 players per team.

From 11th to 13th September 2026, Valença will host the 12th edition of the Eurocity Valença–Tui Tournament, one of the most important youth roller hockey competitions in the region. Organised by Valença Hóquei Clube, the tournament brings together teams from Portugal and Spain, promoting sport, friendship, and a spirit of cooperation between the two banks of the River Minho.
Over three days of competition, athletes from various age groups will compete in dozens of matches in an atmosphere of fair play, passion for roller hockey, and great enthusiasm from spectators and families alike. Year after year, the event has established itself as a meeting point for young talents in the sport, creating moments of sharing, friendship, and sporting development.
Integrated into the spirit of the Eurocity Valença–Tui, the tournament strengthens the ties between the two territories and contributes to the sporting and cultural dynamism of the region. Beyond the competitive side, the event is also recognised for its festive atmosphere and strong involvement of the local community.
On the 10th and 11th of July 2026, the Valença Fortress will once again host the Contrasta Festival, one of the leading music events of the Minho summer season. Held in the iconic Cortinas de São Francisco, the festival stands out for its artistic diversity and the fusion of musical styles, offering a unique experience in an unforgettable historic setting.
The 2026 edition once again embraces the contrast between sounds and generations. On 10th July, the stage welcomes major names from Portuguese urban music, with Mundo Segundo & Sam The Kid, two iconic figures of national hip-hop. The line-up also includes Papillon, known for blending rap and soul, and Lon3r Johny, one of the leading names of the new Portuguese trap scene.
On 11th July, the festival shifts atmosphere and explores more traditional and experimental sounds. Carminho, one of the greatest voices of contemporary fado, promises an emotional and intimate performance. Spanish guitarist Yerai Cortés brings the intensity and innovation of modern flamenco, while French band Nouvelle Vague present their elegant reinterpretations of pop and new wave classics.

On the 6th and 7th of June 2026, another edition of Sanfins Medieval – XIII Galaico-Minhoto Gathering will take place, a cultural event celebrating history, traditions, and the strong connection between the communities of Galicia and Minho. Held in Sanfins, the event promises a weekend filled with medieval entertainment, music, gastronomy, and social gatherings.
On Saturday, 6th June, activities begin at 3:00 pm with painters in the cloister, the “Painting in the Chapel” exhibition, and ambient music. At 7:00 pm there will be a guided visit to the “13 Years” retrospective exhibition, followed by singing in the chapel at 8:00 pm. At 8:30 pm, the medieval supper will be served, featuring empanadas and lamb accompanied by arroz do pingo. The evening continues at 10:30 pm with the serenade “Fado Nosso” and concludes at 11:45 pm with the traditional Galician Queimada ceremony.
On Sunday, 7th June, the programme begins at 11:00 am with ambient music and the continuation of the “Painting in the Chapel” exhibition. At 1:00 pm, lunch featuring traditional borderland products (“Produtos da Raia”) will be served. During the afternoon, at 3:00 pm, the “Luar do Minho” Music Festival will take place with invited musical groups. The event closes at 6:00 pm at Retiro dos Frades.
Throughout both days, visitors will also be able to enjoy the painting exhibition in the chapel and bar service on site. Tickets for the supper and lunch require pre-registration until 3rd June 2026 through Congavl – Mercado Municipal de Valença.

The Clube Caçadores “Os Torreenses” will organise the 3rd “Motas e Motinhas” Ride on 2 August 2026, an event dedicated to two-wheel enthusiasts, promising a day of socialising, entertainment and a scenic ride through the roads of Valença and the surrounding areas.
The gathering will take place at Campo da Cruz, in S. Pedro da Torre, from 8:00 am, with departure for the ride scheduled for 9:00 am. Registration costs 30 motas and includes refreshments, lunch, a souvenir gift, assistance and civil liability insurance throughout the entire route. Club members with membership fees up to date will also benefit from a €5 discount on registration.
